Meet Dr. Warren Hollis

Dr. Warren Hollis

Like many people I didn’t have the slightest idea what a chiropractor did.

Then in my early teens I started to get a tired low back any time I played a sport or even after a simple walk down town. My parents introduced me to their chiropractor and with his help and recommendation to wear orthotics things improved quickly. After such a positive experience at age 14 my parents suggested I might enjoy working as a chiropractor. Like most 14-year-olds I ignored them, but was intrigued by what chiropractic was doing and began talking to a family friend who had been a chiropractor for 20 years. I also went around and spoke with other health professionals (dentists, MDs, etc) and quickly found that it was the chiropractors that still loved their work at age 50. From there on I set out to do what I do today. I can happily say that I do still love what I do everyday.

Education

As a somewhat focused individual I took sciences in high school and pushed myself to finish early. The University of Guelph has an excellent Human Kinetics program which is the starting ground for most health disciplines (pre-med, pre-dentistry, pre-chiropractic). I graduated from Guelph in 1989 with my Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and enrolled in the professional program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. The next four years provided an exceptional education and I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic, and valedictorian of my class, in 1995. While my years of professional training only cemented my desire to help others, the best part of the experience was meeting my wife, Dr. Elaine Chagnon.

Enjoys Patients of All Ages

I most enjoy working with those patients who understand that the small steps they make today are what keep them feeling young when they are 60, 70 and 80. In fact, the most rewarding people I’ve worked with are those in their 80s and 90s, who have often seen a chiropractor most of their lives (many having started seeing a chiropractor before I was born), and attribute the work they did with their chiropractor to their ability to still get out and enjoy life. Likewise, having practiced since 1995 I have had the opportunity to work with teenagers who are now mothers and fathers themselves and bring their children to be checked for healthy development. I’m convinced that just like my children won’t likely get cavities in their teeth; future generations will use chiropractors, like we now do dentists, and most of the spinal wear and tear I see coming into my office will be a thing of the past.

So, whether I’m working with a family as part of their stay well routine, keeping people active throughout life, or helping someone recover from an accident; it is always rewarding to see our patients reach their full health potential.

Family Life

My wife (Dr. Chagnon) and I are blessed with four active children. One of the main reasons for moving to Perth was the opportunity to raise children in a community-minded environment with an outdoor activities in our backyard. We take full advantage of this and use the outdoors every season. I also believe in being involved in our community and have been actively involved in numerous non-profit groups, including involvement with the Perth and District Community Foundation, North Lanark Community Health Centre and Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital.

As you can imagine working with people like yourself all day long has its physical challenges too. Because of this, and so I can keep enjoying life, I get myself adjusted every 2-3 weeks and change my exercise habits every season (yoga and weights in the winter, golf and swimming in the summer). Having seen too many problems develop over time in people, I am also sure to check my kids on a regular basis. It really is what we do today that makes tomorrow a better day.

Enough about me! What’s important is how I can help you! Give us a call, or email me here and we’ll schedule the time to work together toward the better health of you and your family.
